Recreation

Whether it's indoor or outdoor, Grandview has it all!

Summer or winter the same problem exists, in that there are too many pursuits from which to choose.

We are ten minutes from one of Manitoba's best 18-hole golf courses. You can swim in our pool or take a short trip to several nearby beaches.

Our fishing is world-class, being in the midst of the Big Seven trout lakes, but also immediately next door to a multitude of Northern Pike and Walleye Lakes. We also boast a local fish pond within town limits.

Our location between Duck Mountain Provincial Park and Riding Mountain National Park gives access to every hunting and fishing opportunity. However, hiking, bird-watching, canoeing on lakes and rivers and water sports are extremely popular.

Viewing and photographing wildlife has become a major past time and this is the area in which to do it! Moose, elk, bear and white tail deer abound. Moreover, waterfowl, marsh and prairie birds merge with species found in the boreal forests of the nearby highlands. Nowhere else in Canada will you find such a cornucopia of species in such a compressed environment.

Many come, set up camp and simply kick back to relax.

Summer sports include organized baseball at Wilson's Park along with another host of activities.
When winter comes, the fun begins again. With hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails, cross country skiing, ice fishing and choice of nearby downhill ski facilities, one never gets cabin fever.
The curling brooms come out, challenges are dusted off, and the winter prairie ritual renews.

In Grandview and area, hockey is a major winter sport as anywhere in Canada and keeps our arena staff occupied. Many enjoy simple ice skating, enjoyed by all ages of the general public.

The Grandview & District Recreation Commission organizes sports activities and short enrichment courses such as First Aid, Boat and Hunter Safety, etc.

The Grandview Kinsmen Community Centre is available year round for weddings, socials, concerts and other special occasions. If you are interested in renting the hall, please contact the Grandview Recreation Office at 204-546-5260.
